Horse Shoes or Boots
We recommend your mount wears shoes or boots to navigate the often rocky and steep trails.

Your enjoyment and safety are the top priorities of our dedicated trail and event crews. Volunteers will be on-site. A farrier and vet will be on call.

About Fleetwood

The Fleetwood Center
We are a non-profit organization that strives to enhance the lives of everyone in our diverse community. Established in 1930 as the first high school in Nelson County, it has a rich history and is beloved by many. We host numerous events to raise money for the restoration of this historical school so it can continue to be used as a local education center, recreation facility, and tourism destination.
The Trail Ride
This popular, one-of-kind ride began in 1993 as a PTO fundraiser. It was so successful, we continue hosting it to this day. The Fleetwood Trail Ride is made possible through the generosity of private landowners and through the efforts of volunteers in the community.

There are two legendary women to thank for making the Fleetwood Trail Ride what it is today.
Emilou Bruguiere began managing the ride in 1993 and kept it going through 2006.

Nancy Brockman took the reins in 2006 and built upon Emilou’s mission and vision. She managed the ride through 2024, when she handed it over to the next generation.
